Supreme Court upholds Bello’s election as Kogi governor




The Ministry of Budget and National Planning says it has designed a fiscal stimulus strategy that will help the country to come out of its economic recession.
This is contained in a document entitled “ Turning a Crisis into an Opportunity: the Economy and the 2017 Budget,’’ obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja.
The document was presented by the Minister of Budget, Sen. Udoma Udo Udoma, at the recent Ministerial Retreat, to harvest ideas to come out of the economic crisis.
Udoma said that Economic Management Team had been working on a plan to generate an immediate large injection of funds into the economy.
He said that the team had plans to generate and inject large amount of funds, principally in foreign currency, estimated at 10 to 15 billion dollars into the economy.

Oyo Assembly passes bill to create 35 LCDAs




The Oyo State House of Assembly on Tuesday passed into law the Local Government further Amendment Bill 2016, for the creation of 35 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
The passage of the bill was sequel to the report of the Committee on Local Government Chieftaincy Matters and State Honour.
The Speaker, Mr Michael Adeyemo, said that the house was unanimous in the passage of the bill.
Adeyemo appreciated the entire members for their contributions, saying that the bill was important in order to bring government closer to the grassroots people.

National Assembly adjourns sitting over member’s death

30 political parties to participate in Ondo guber poll





The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) Tuesday announced that thirty political parties will participate in the November 26, governorship election in Ondo State.
It also informed that it has put in another arrangement to ensure smooth accreditation and voting process during the poll.
This it said would reduce the rigorous process being experienced by the commission during the poll.
The state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr. Olusegun Agbaje, disclosed at a press conference held in Akure, the state capital.

Fighting corruption is statutory duty of president – Ribadu




The former EFCC Chairman, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, says it is the statutory responsibility of a country’s president to fight corruption from all angles.
Ribadu said this at the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) (Chartered), 2016 Annual Conference in Abuja on Monday.
“Nobody else, it is not the duty of any governor or any chairman of a local government; it rests on the shoulder of the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria; if any one steals one naira in Uyo or Bayelsa State, it is the responsibility of the president to stop and bring him to justice.

PDP wants Jigawa govt to dissolve caretaker c’ttees, conduct LG election




The Jigawa chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Tuesday called on the state government to dissolve the caretaker committees it appointed for Local Government Councils in the state.
The PDP, in a statement issued in Dutse by its Publicity Secretary, Malam Musa Abdullahi, described the caretaker committees as “illegal”.
The party said that the government must also conduct elections into the 27 Local Government Councils in the state.
“The PDP wishes to announce its position on the illegal management of the 27 local governments of Jigawa state by caretaker committees with expired tenures.”
The party said it had since gone to court to challenge the decision of the state government not to conduct elections into the councils as provided by the Constitution.
It said that the suit was also “challenging the legality of forming an ad hoc arrangement called “Caretaker Committees” to run the affairs of local governments in the state.”

APC accuses Wike of wasting Rivers resources




The All Progressives Congress in Rivers State has accused the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, of squandering over N200bn of the state’s resources.
The APC also alleged that the governor had borrowed over N150bn within a year, adding that rather than apply the resources at his disposal to touch the people’s lives, Wike was busy commissioning projects initiated and completed by the immediate past administration.

Evidence That Kyari Took N500m From MTN To Help Reduce Fine Presented To Buhari
