Oshiomhole, el-Rufai behind Edo poll’s postponement – Edo PDP



The Peoples Democratic Party, Edo State chapter, has accused Governor Adams Oshiomhole of allegedly using his Kaduna State counterpart, Nasir el-Rufai, to influence the postponement of the governorship election in order to buy time to rig the poll.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had, last Thursday, postponed the election from September 10 to September 28, citing security reports received by the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Security over threats by insurgents to cause violence during the exercise.
The Edo State PDP chairman, Chief Dan Orbih, at a press briefing on Wednesday in Benin, claimed that the party received information from the Government House that the Kaduna State governor allegedly influenced a national commissioner of the INEC to postpone the election.

In a statement by the Ize-Iyamu Campaign Organisation and signed by Tenet Iredia, she appealed to women and all eligible voters in the state not to allow the postponement of the election to dampen their enthusiasm.
She observed that other extraneous reasons might have been responsible for the postponement of the election but stressed that the primary concern of eligible voters was to ensure that they did not succumb to tricks and antics of the APC in the state.

Ondo guber: APC appeal panel report ready – C’ttee



The Appeal Panel Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Ondo State governorship primary election will conclude sitting and submit its report within the week.
The committee, which is probing the governorship primary that produced Chief Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), sat all through the Sallah holiday considering the allegations raised by three of the 24 APC aspirants.
It was gathered that some of the aspirants who contested the governorship ticket of the APC had petitioned the Appeal Panel Committee headed by Mrs. Helen Bendega demanding the cancelation of the result of the primaries.
Among those who submitted their petitions to the panel alleging irregularities in the primaries are Chief Olusola Oke, Senator Ajayi Borofice and Segun Abraham.

Edo PDP cautions voters against selling PVCs



The leadership of Edo state chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has advised eligible voters in the state against selling or given out their Permanent Voter cards , PVCs to some individuals who now engaged in an alleged illicit buying of voters cards for N10, 000.
PDP deputy state chairman , Mr. Emma Ogbomo said the ruling party, APC has resorted to the new antic after PDP punctured their purchase of PVCs .
Addressing members of the APC who joined the party at the campaign office of the PDP governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu in Benin City, Ogbomo posited
“It is their new trick to ask people for the numbers of their PVC and then offer them money for the revelation. We advise people not to sell their numbers because they may not be able to use their voter card on Election Day”.

PDP will lose nothing over members’ defection to APC – BoT chair

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Board of Trustees (BoT), Sen. Walid Jibrin, on Wednesday said the party would lose nothing over the defection of Sen. Abubakar Sodangi to the APC.
Jibrin told newsmen in Nasarawa, his country home in Nasarawa State, that the accusation of impunity against the PDP by Sodangi was laughable.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Sodangi, served as senator for Nasarawa west between 1999 to 2011 under the PDP.
He defected from the party to the All Progressives Congress, APC, due to what he called the inability of the PDP to purge itself of impunity and imposition of candidates.
The BoT chairman, however, dismissed the claim, insisting that the party, especially in the state, would not be affected by the defection.

Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo State, Mr Dan Orbih, has accused Governor Adams Oshiomhole of masterminding the postponement of the governorship election in the state.
Orbih made the allegation at a news conference at the party’s secretariat on Wednesday, in Benin.
The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, recalls that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had on Thursday announced the rescheduling of the election from Sept. 10 to Sept. 28.
It had explained that the shift was in compliance with security alert from the Police and Department of State Service , DSS.
Orbih alleged that Oshiomohole colluded with Gov. Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State and a female staff of the INEC to postpone the election.
He said that the postponement was to enable the governor and the All Progressives Congress,

Edo PDP alleges ploy to manipulate re-scheduled poll

Recession: It’s time to quit – PDP tells Buhari

The leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to resign and allow competent hands to steer the country away from the present economic recession.
In a statement Wednesday by the spokesman of the PDP, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, the party said the crass ineptitude and lukewarm-attitude of the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration could no longer be tolerated.
