APC will lose if Akeredolu remains candidate – Abraham

Segun Abraham

The second runner-up in the governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Dr Segun Abraham, Sunday predicted defeat for the party if eventually it upholds the election of Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) as the candidate of the party.
Akeredolu was elected as the candidate of the party in the primary held on September 3. But the other aspirants including Abraham, Chief Olusola Oke and Prof Robert Ajayi Boroffice kicked against the outcome of the election.
Abraham flanked by other leaders of the party including Chief Erastus Akeju, Messrs Sola Iji and Rotimi Agbede said the opposition People’s Democratic Party(PDP) would raise the issue of
corruption against the party during electioneering campaigns as the candidate of APC emerged through corrupt means.
Addressing a press conference at the NUJ Press Centre, Abraham said APC which prides itself as anti corruption party cannot be seen as condoning corruption in the process of picking its candidate for election as it was done during the last governorship primary of the party.
He expressed the optimism that the leaders of the party would still substitute the name of Akeredolu as the candidate of the party before the deadline which is October 19 saying the name of the winner was only submitted as surrogate candidate pending the determination of the petitions by the aggrieved aspirants of the party.
