Edo Gov-elect Obaseki states support for traditional institution
The Edo State Governor-elect, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, yesterday, expressed his avowed commitment towards uplifting the traditional institutions in the state, saying, “My loyalty to the Royal family, the Benin tradition and the entire traditional institutions in the state is unalloyed.”
The Governor-elect, in a congratulatory message to the 40th Benin Monarch, Oba Ewuare II, said, for guidance and advice, he would be counting on the Oba to succeed as Governor.
Obaseki said, “It is particularly auspicious and most heartwarming that the events leading to the Oba’s coronation is coming at a time, when I am fortunate to be the elected Governor of the State.”
Besides, the Governor-elect, who sees Edo State with famous cultures and traditions, promised to reinvigorate the sector in terms of being the country’s tourism hotspot and become part of the State’s economic growth harnessed to the greater benefit of the people.
Obaseki said, “I see an Edo State, where our people will live in peace, equanimity and where social justice, equity and fairness shall prevail at all times. I am committed to building a better, prosperous and economically sustainable Edo State based on cultural cohesion.”
